THE BENONI SYSTEMS
The Blumenfeld Variation
Black advances a Benoni QBPawn to attack and tempt White's QP forward (hampering White's P structure). The P-Q4..P-QB4 system is named after a Hebrew word Ben-Oni ("child of my sorrow") used in an 1825 chess book title. This route avoids having to face a later Taimanov (-qv-) line. B-Alt.
