The Exchange Variation
Black's QP setting attacked White's undefended KP.
White's KPawn removes Black's QP and offers an exchange, leading "to dull equality and an early draw" (H.Golombek, The Game Of Chess). This choice (fourth main option) implies peaceful intentions by White, and has several interchanges. W-Alt.
