The Exchange Variation
White's QKt and KP combined to attack Black's QP, inviting him to exchange, advance or transpose.
Black's Queen's Pawn under threat on Q4(d5) removes White's KPawn on K5(e4) and begins a pawn exchange (usually the first of several clearances) to simplify the centre. B-Alt.
