THE KING'S GAMBIT
White offers up a popular KBPawn gambit to tempt Black aside, hoping to gain control of the centre by a later P-Q4 and then break through to Black's KB2(f7) with a mating attack. The King's Gambit is a non-developing move that weakens his king's position but can open the KB-file for White's KR to attack KB7(f7) directly. Tends to sharp play. W-Alt.
