The Modern Variation
White plans to control the centre by indirect play (effectively playing a reversed Queen's Fianchetto Defence with a move in hand) but Black, if proficient, should have no trouble in equalising.
Black usually replies 1..P-K4 occupying the vacant centre without hesitation, freeing his queen and KB diagonals and set to move ..P-K5 against any White Kt-KB3 development. B-Alt.
