In the Morphy open line (also called the Tarrasch Defence or "The Open Defence"), Black captures White's KP on K5(e4) with his K-side Knight instead of the close 5..B-K2 or 5..P-QKt4 (the Archangel). Generally leads to a complex, unbalanced position where both sides have chances to win. B-Alt.
