White's KB attack on the Black king's current weak point KB2(f7) was not an immediate threat.
Black leaves the "Epine Dorsale" with a Pawn to Q3(d6) move, doubling KP support and freeing his QB to enable 4..B-KKt5. This inferior defence has play similar to Philidor and Hungarian lines. B-Alt.
