The Exchange Variation
White's queen's pawn on Q4(d4) removed Black's king's pawn on K5(e5) and attacked his QP.
Black takes the newly doubled KP on K4(e5) with his Q3(d6) pawn. An "Exchange Variation" is the usual term for a pawn trade on White's K5(e5) or Q5(d5) leading to a fixed centre. B-Alt.
