Black rejected White's centre offer but pushed his KP out to K3(e6) to enable 2..P-Q4 and free his KB, in a safe but unadventurous "repertoire" reply.
White transposes into a Franco-Indian position by advancing his Queen's's Pawn to the vacant centre. Black usually responds with the Dutch Def. W-Alt.
