Alternate (Dutch Defence) Route
White's KP gambit has formed a strong centre.
Black declines the (usually accepted) Staunton Gambit, pushing his QPawn out so that his QB now supports his KBP. Also reached via the Pillsbury, this old defence is no longer favoured as it tends to create a permanent Black weakness. Compare the Pseudo-Balogh Defence for interest. B-Alt.
