Black set his QBP (rejecting a Catalan or KB fianchetto) to contest White's Q4(d4), and set a relatively passive KKt.
White advances his Queen's Pawn to Q4(d4). The Inverted Grunfeld Def. frees his QB, threatens Black's QBP and prevents ..P-K4. W-Alt.
