The Philidor Variation
Black's KB shadowed White's early "classical" bishop move, often planning ..P-Q3 behind it.
White adopts Philidor's line, pushing his Queen's Bishop's Pawn out to QB3(c3) to support a planned 4.P-Q4. Andre Philidor (1727-95) was a strong advocate of building a pawn centre. W-Alt.
