Black adopts a rare Chigorin Defence, developing his Queen's Knight to counter White's control of Q4(d4) and K5(e5), and intending to attack White in the centre by developing as rapidly as possible. The Chigorin also arises in the Queen's Gambit Declined by Black's same two moves. B-Alt.
