White's KKtP push (for a KB fianchetto) signalled a plan to control the centre by indirect play.
Black rarely responds warily to White's centre invitation with a mirror King's Knight's Pawn to KKt3(g6) while waiting for White to declare his further intentions. The move is solid but inferior to a number of stronger, more aggressive replies. B-Alt.
