White develops his King's Bishop to KKt2(g2) and dominates the long light diagonal, controlling his K4(e4) and contesting Black's Q4(d5).
Black shadows White's move with his own King's Bishop fianchetto on KKt2(g7), playing a similar "waiting game" approach to the still-vacant centre.
