White develops his Queen's Bishop to QKt2(b2) to dominate the long (ie. central) dark diagonal and has clear advantage in space on the Q-side. He threatens 2..BxP, 3.BxP.., 4.BxKtP.., 5.BxR so that Black considers defending by ..P-Q3 or ..P-KB3.
