White varies the KGA (the usual continuation being 3.Kt-KB3), setting his Queen's Pawn on Q4(d4) for 5.BxP while leaving an undefended KP for Black to attack (similar to Steinitz Gambit). No longer seen in master play, as advantageous to Black. W-Alt.
