(The) Positional Variation
White has opened by advancing his KBP to KB4(f4), inviting Black to take command of the centre.
Black plays for positional strength by developing his King's Knight to KB3(f6) instead of (usually) the Dutch Bird or (less often) From's Gambit. The KKt is defensive here, but the move is rarely inferior as it prevents an early White Q-KR5(h5)+ch move. B-Alt.
