The Italian Variation

Black's KKt counterattacked White's KP to simplify the centre and avoid Scotch and Spanish lines.
White develops his King's Bishop to QB4(c4) on his "Italian" diagonal (a2-g8), threatening to build an attack against Black's weak KB2(f7). Black usually replies 3..KtxKP, inviting the Boden Gambit. W-Alt.
