Black often declines White's gambit by setting his own QBPawn on QB3(c6), doubling his QP defence and threatening to take and then keep (by..P-QKt4) the gambit QBP. The Slav Def. has an advantage over the main Orthodox (2..P-K3) in that, for the present, Black's QB is not shut in, allowing ..B-KB4. B-Alt.
